Tomos Moped
Tomos is based in the city of Koper, Slovenia, and manufactures cars, motorcycles, outboards, boats, and mopeds. While people in Eastern Europe are familiar with all of Tomos’ products, outside of Eastern Europe, most people know Tomos exclusively for the Tomos moped. There are rumors around the Internet that Tomos is shutting down production, due to increased competition for Chinese and Indian manufacturers, but this is not the case. Tomos has received the license to produce Puch mopeds under the Tomos name and they are only outsourcing their parts.
There are 10 Tomos models available for purchase in the United States These are: the Sprint, the ST, the LX, the Revival TS, the Streetmate, the Streetmate R, the Arrow, the Nitro 50, the Nitro 150 and the Velo 150. The variety of the available models is quite impressive. The Sprint is one of the most basic mopeds you can find, with a top speed of thirty miles per hour and a two stroke engine. It is for traditionalists who do not want anymore more fancy than the classic moped which was just a motorized bicycle. At the other end of the Tomos spectrum is the Nitro 150, which has the name indicates, as a 150 cc four stroke engine. It looks more like the modern motor scooter, and it is designed to handle stop and go traffic and a longer commute than the Spirit can handle. All of these Tomo moped models are quite affordable and have a long reputation for quality across the world.
