Ruckus Moped
The Honda Ruckus is the American and Canadian name for the Honda Zoomer. It was released in 2002 as the 2003 model, and it is almost startlingly different from other mopeds. The original Ruckus moped was definitely a moped, instead of a misnamed motor scooter. It had a more rugged design, thicker tires, and a heavy skeleton system that lacked a storage compartment. The Ruckus model had a 49cc four stroke engine, single cylinder, and liquid cooled. Its tank was only 1.3 gallons, but it got approximately eight-five to one-hundred and five miles per gallon. Which meant you could potentially travel one hundred and fifty miles before gassing up again, which is even more convenient when gas is approximately four to five dollars a gallon. The Ruckus model was originally only available in yellow, but in the past six years, more colors have been added to the available models, including white, black, and silver camo.
In 2004, Honda released a vehicle they called the Big Ruckus. The Big Ruckus differed from the Ruckus model in one keep respect—it was obviously much bigger! In fact, the engine is a 249 cc, and it is marketed as the “full sized” Ruckus. This is an obvious marketing ploy, though, because the original Ruckus is not a merely “fun sized” version of the scooter. It’s a moped while the Big Ruckus is a motor scooter, and they have different purposes, fill different niches, and have different requirements and features. The Big Ruckus is a motor scooter.
