How to Make a Motorized Skateboard

Building a motorized skateboard is fairly simple and easy to do if you have the right materials to do it. First off, you can either buy a motorized skateboard kit from a local skate shop or purchase a small engine, pulleys for the engine and the back wheels, and a belt to connect the two. These are all the materials needed to complete the art of having and riding a very own motorized skateboard.

After all the equipment is purchased, take off the back wheels of the board and make sure the area is clean where working is going to take place. The next step is to then position the engine so that the pulley is directly over the pulley from your back wheels. After this step is complete take a drill and make holes in the back of your skateboard so that the engine can mount on the board. It is also important to make sure that the engine is not going to interfere with the back wheels, so double check the desired drill position before the task is actually done.

Now it is time to mount the engine on the holes and attach it with nuts and bolts so your engine is ready to go. Once the engine is in place, place the pulley on the new back wheels and put them on the skateboard. Keep the nuts on the board lose because the pulley on the engine still needs to go on. Go ahead and put the pulley on the engine too. After the pulley is set on the engine and the wheels, it is now time to tighten all the nuts. Tightening the nuts should keep everything in place, but if needed, one can put washers on to help keep a tight fit. Once everything seems to fit, and everything is ready to go, attach the accelerator wire to the engine. Now it is time to test the skateboard. Start your engine and hold on to the accelerator wire. If you raise the engine and it forces your forward, you now have your very own motorized skateboard.

Having a skateboard that is motorized can be an awesome experience. No longer will you have to push your way up hills on a regular board or become out of breath when making a long journey. The motorized skateboard can push your forward when you travel and make it a lot easier on your legs. The satisfaction that you created the board will be all that much sweeter when you are zipping by your friends that are just on a regular skateboard.
